Amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure Act

- Approval of the Cabinet of Ministers has been granted previously to amend section 281 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act, to comply with the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for Administration of Juvenile Justice, which prohibits sentencing of a person to death if he was under 18 at the time of committing the crime. As such, clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the draft Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice to publish the said draft Bill in the Government Gazette and submit the same thereafter in Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
