Granting the Tunnel Muck removed during the excavation of the tunnel connecting Kaluganga - Moragahakanda which is implemented under the North Central Province Maha Ela Project

- Tunnel Muck removed during the excavation of the tunnel connecting Kaluganga - Moragahakanda, a component of the North Central Province Maha Ela Project, which is being implemented under the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Programme with the Asian Development Bank funding, is temporarily accumulated in the reserved lands owned by the Department of Forest Conservation. This muck is comprised of gravel, which cannot be directly used for construction purposes. Therefore, the proposal made by the Minister of Irrigation to utilize that tunnel muck so as to produce Aggregate Base Course (ABC) required for the rehabilitation and 9.3 km long road from Illukkumbura to Laggala which has to be rehabilitated and developed due to the constructions of the aforesaid tunnel way and also for the construction of 100,000 km road project, implemented by the Government, was approved by the Cabinet.
