Securing necessary equipment for the National Plant Quarantine Service under Japanese Non-Project Grant Aid

- International movement of healthy plants and plant products is essential for the development of the agriculture and related trade industries. The National Plant Quarantine Service has been established to facilitate such trading activities. The Government of Japan is in agreement to grant equipment worth of JPY 500 million (Approximately Rs.880 Mn) for the activities of the National Plant Quarantine Services through the Non-Project Grant Aid under the Economic and Social Development Programme for the Financial Year 2022/2023. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Finance to sign the Exchange of Notes with Government of Japan to obtain the said grant, was approved by the Cabinet.
