Approval for submitting Orders published in the Gazette Notification to Parliament

- Four Special Commodity Orders have been issued under the Special Commodity Levy Act, No. 48 of 2007 to implement the Government policy decisions with a view to providing relief to consumers through the stabilization of market price of essential commodities and protecting local farmers. Further, another Order has been issued by the Minister of Finance under the Revenue Protection Act, No. 19 of 1962 to give effect to the HS Code National Subdivisions and revision of Custom Import Duty on selected commodities. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Finance to submit the said Orders to Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
