Granting a monthly allowance for Athletes and Coaches under the High Performance Programme

- Targeting the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games, the National Sports Council has recommended to implement an encouragement programme so as to grant a financial support to the athletes with special talents who have been selected according to their performance based qualifications, undergoing a long term systematic training, anticipating medals to accomplish their training requirements and also a financial allowance to their coaches. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Youth and Sports to pay a monthly allowance of Rs.100,000/- each to the selected athletes in the pool of high talents and Rs.50,000/- each for their coaches, was approved by the Cabinet.
