Operation of the Weuda Factory owned by the Ceylon Ceramics Corporation through a private investor

- Manufacturing activities of the Weuda Tile Factory belonging to the Ceylon Ceramics Corporation, located in Mawathagama in Kurunegala district, have been suspended in the year 2010 due to the issue of securing raw materials. The Sri Lanka Navy has thereafter used this factory to manufacture bricks required for the Sandahiru Seya in Anuradhapura and the said activities have also been suspended since the year 2017. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Industries to call for Expressions of Interest (EoI) from the investors showing an interest to start and maintain a clay related industry in the Weuda factory in the extent of 09 Acres 01 Rood and 31 Perches and provide the same on lease basis to an investor who confirms a higher viability, was approved by the Cabinet.
