Preparing a Road Map and a Strategic Plan to make Sri Lanka a Carbon Net Zero Country in 2050

- For a country to become a net zero in carbon, it must essentially reduce the greenhouse gases emitted to the atmosphere and the ecosystems that absorb the carbon should be developed. It has been found the necessity of preparing a Road Map and a Strategic Plan to convert Sri Lanka a Carbon Net Zero Country by 2050. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Environment to prepare a Road Map and five year Strategic Plan where the progress is reviewed once in five years and amendments are made and to appoint a Committee comprising of experts with expertise in the field, was approved by the Cabinet.
