Home Economy Security (Relief Basket) Programme

- Provisions have been allocated to implement an Extensive Home Economy Security National Programme, through the National Budget proposals 2022. Home Economy Security (Relief Basket) Programme has been identified as one amongst them. Under the said programme, 40 low income earning families are selected on the recommendation of the Divisional Secretary, based on special criteria, from each Grama Niladhari Division in order to ease the pressure of the hike of cost of living and such beneficiaries are issued a digital card worth of Rs 2000/- enabling to purchase goods thereby paving the way to purchase locally produced essential items and other consumer items, using that digital card, through mini super markets which are established under the Home Economy Security National Programme and operated by women entrepreneurs and. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Trade to take necessary action to implement the said programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
