Implementation of Traditional & Rural Industry Promotion Projects
- With a view to developing traditional cottage industries such as Rattan, Pottery, Brass, Lacquer, masks, coconut shell, jewellery, stone carvings, flax fibre and Dumbara patterns, Rs.1,000 million and Rs.150 million have been allocated through the Budget Proposals‑2022 and the Budget Estimates in the year 2021 respectively, to the State Ministry of Rattan, Brass, Pottery, Furniture and Rural Industrial Promotion. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Industries to continue the following projects that had been inaugurated in the year 2021 and are being implemented under the State Ministry of Rattan, Brass, Pottery, Furniture and Rural Industrial Promotion, in the year 2022 as well by utilizing the said provisions, was approved by the Cabinet:

* Cultivation Project of raw materials required for Rural Industries

* Establishment of the National Raw Material Bank Project

* Making One Entrepreneur for One Village Project

* Establishing a Timber related Design and Process Innovation Centre Project

* Promotional Programme of Local and Foreign Markets for Rural Industries

* Integrated Development Programme of Rural & Traditional Industrial Villages

* National Blacksmithing Industry Development Programme
