Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2022-01-24

Entering into Agreements on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income

- The Government of Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has agreed to sign-

(i) the Protocol to the Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income with the Government of the Republic of India;

(ii) the Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income with the Government of Republic of Turkey;

(iii) the Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income with the Government of Czech Republic.

Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Finance to sign the above Agreements and submit the same to Parliament for approval in terms of the provisions of the Inland Revenue Act No. 24 of 2017, was approved by the Cabinet.
