Paddy Purchasing Programme in the Maha Season 2021/2022
- It has been planned to implement the Paddy Purchasing Programme of the Government in the Maha Season 2021/2022 with a view to providing a reasonable price for the harvest of farmers and maintaining buffer stock of paddy. Purchase of paddy harvest will be carried out directly by the Paddy Marketing Board and District Secretaries/Government Agents through the small and medium scale millers. Provisions of Rs 29,805 million required for purchasing said paddy harvest will be secured through the Government banks. Accordingly, taking into consideration the proposals made by the Minister of Agriculture, the Cabinet decided-

(i) to purchase paddy by the Paddy Marketing Board at the competitive prices with the Private Sector under the Paddy Purchasing Programme of the Government in the Maha Season 2021/2022;

(ii) to pay a compensation of Rs. 25/- per kg for securing the income level of farmers affected by the reduction of paddy harvest, if any, during the Maha Season 2021/2022.
