National Project for setting up industrial Zones at District and Divisional Level and providing investment opportunities to new entrepreneurs for business development

- It has been proposed to accelerate the local industrialization process regionalizing the programme for the establishing industries which is being implemented through the Budget 2022 thereby establishing industries at divisional and district level. Accordingly, a programme has been planned by the Ministry of Industries and it is expected to establish two types of industries at District and Divisional Secretariat Divisions, under the said programme. It is proposed to establish small scale Industrial estates with 15-35 industries at a land in extent of 5-15 acres and Industrial estates with 35-50 industries at a land in extent of 15-25 acres. A National Committee and a District Operating Committee will be appointed to implement and monitor the said projects in collaboration with the Ministry of Industries. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Industries to implement the proposed programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
