Construction of 04 new flyovers under the Framework Agreement for Financial Cooperation between the Governments of Hungary and Sri Lanka

- An Agreement for Financial Cooperation has been entered into between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Hungary in order to make concessional financing through the Hungarian EXIM Bank to implement the infrastructure development projects in Sri Lanka. Under the said agreement, construction activities of Kohuwala and Getambe flyovers are being carried out at present. In addition to the ongoing projects, the Road Development Authority has identified the necessity to carry out projects to grant solutions for the traffic congestion mostly experienced at Muttettugala Railway Crossing and Hiripitiya Junction, Pasyala Junction, Mari Stella Junction, Negambo and Thalawathugoda junction of the national road network. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Highways to construct 04 flyovers at the said junctions, was approved by the Cabinet.
