Vesting of the State land named 'Solaikadu' located in Vavuniya District to the National Housing Development Authority for a Public Servants Housing Project

- A Public Servants Housing Project has been implemented on the land in extent of 92.92 hectares (234 acres 02 rood 10 perches) in the Omanthai Grama Niladhari Division of the Divisional Secretariat Division of Vavuniya. Under the said project, 711 land blocks of the said land have been provided to the beneficiaries identified on the recommendation of the Divisional Secretary and out of which the National Housing Development Authority has granted loans of Rs.500,000/- each to 250 families for the construction of houses. Although nearly 09 years have passed since the implementation of the project, the relevant beneficiaries have not yet been issued deeds for the said plots of land. Therefore, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Urban Development and Housing to vest the said land to the National Housing Development Authority so as to provide the relevant beneficiaries with the Deeds of Freehold, was approved by the Cabinet.
