Policies and Guidelines for the grant of reparation under the Office for Reparations Act, No. 34 of 2018

- In terms of the provisions of the Act, No.34 of 2018, the Office for Reparations has been established to identify the aggrieved persons eligible for reparations and grant individual and collective reparations as found appropriate. As per section 11 of the said Act, the Office for Reparations should formulate policies for grant of reparation and prepare and submit to the Cabinet of Ministers the criteria for determining the eligibility of the aggrieved persons. Accordingly, the said Office has formulated policies and guidelines in consultation with the relevant stakeholders. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice to submit the said policies and guidelines in Parliament and publish the same thereafter in the Government Gazette, was approved by the Cabinet.
