Amendment to the Provincial Councils (Transfer of Stamp Duty) Act, No.13 of 2011

- Approval of the Cabinet of Ministers has been granted at its meeting held on 2021‑02‑15 to amend the Provincial Councils (Transfer of Stamp Duty) Act, No.13 of 2011, incorporating the provisions enabling to refund the Stamp Duty or Penalty payment made in excess or erroneously, when such request is made to refund such Stamp Duty or Penalty remitted by a person in excess or erroneously. Accordingly, clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the draft Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Finance to publish the said draft Bill in the Government Gazette and submit the same thereafter in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
