Presidential Media Awards Ceremony - 2022
- The Government policy statement “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour”has identified that it is a responsibility of the Government to secure a clear and independent environment required for the performance of media institutions and the professionals engaged in the media institutions to act for safeguarding the freedom of speech and publication to the most with a view to creating a society that suits to the 21st century. Accordingly, the Presidential Media Awards Ceremony has been planned to conduct more properly with the objective of encouraging media persons for maintaining the exquisite standards of media as well as the electronic, print and web media contents in an accountable and independent manner so that the subscriber expectations could be achieved. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Mass Media to conduct the Presidential Media Awards Ceremony- 2022 to evaluate journalists based on their creations made in 2021 in all the three languages, sinhala, Tamil and English, covering six (06) fields of broadcasting, television, printed media, web sites, school media and media researches, was approved by the Cabinet.
