Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2021-11-01

Providing a land located in Thalapathpitiya, belonging to the Urban Development Authority on lease basis for the implementation of a Mixed Development Project

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2020‑10‑19 to call for proposals for the implementation of a Mixed Development project on a land in the extent of 2 acres 6.32 perches located in Thalapathpitiya belonging to the Urban Development Authority (UDA). Accordingly, proposals have been called on Design, Build, Finance, Operate Transfer basis from investors on competitive basis. Three investors have submitted proposals for the purpose and the Standing Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee has recommended the proposal submitted by 'M/s International Construction Consortium (Pvt.) Ltd.'. Concurrence of the Board of Management of the UDA has also been granted for the said recommendation. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Urban Development & Housing to provide the relevant block of land to 'M/s International Construction Consortium (Pvt.) Ltd.' on long term lease basis for the implementation of the said project, was approved by the Cabinet.
