The Demand, Consumption and Abundance of Food Crops in Sri Lanka
- A Comparative Study Report has been prepared on the Demand, Consumption and Abundance of Food Crops in Sri Lanka with the intervention of the Presidential Task Force for Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation and with the contribution of the Department of National Planning, Department of Census and Statistics and the Ministries, State Ministries and Departments relating to agriculture, livestock and fishery sections associated with food crops production, with a view to enhancing the productivity of local food production. The Presidential Task Force for Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation has issued necessary instructions to the District and Divisional Agriculture Committees and Chairpersons of the Divisional Livelihood Committees, District Secretaries/ Government Agents and Divisional Secretaries to study this Report prepared including basic food categories such as paddy, grain including Legumes, vegetables, fruits, coconut cultivation, fishery and animal products and to prepare and implement an Action Plan including foods crops targets within the period of 2022-2024 as per the guidance of the said Report. Accordingly, the Minister of Finance informed the Cabinet of the said programme and the Cabinet granted its concurrence for the implementation of the said programme as scheduled.
