Amendment to the Penal Code consequential to the Prohibition of Obscene Publications

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2021‑10‑05 has granted approval to submit the Obscene Publications Bill to Parliament and the clearance of the Attorney General has been received to the draft Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman to repeal section 285, 286 and 289A of the Penal Code in parallel to the introduction of the said new law. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice to publish the said Bill in the Government Gazzette and to present the same thereafter in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
