Completion of the construction of the partly built Ward Complex at the Provincial General Hospital, Kurunegala

- The Provincial General Hospital of Kurunegala consists of 2,355 beds, 57 wards and 28 specialized units. Even though it had been planned to construct a five‑storey building in phased out manner to establish the new wards during the period of 2007‑2009 as per the development plan of the said Hospital, it is only up to the second floor has been completed out of the said construction. In accordance with the Last Will of late Mrs. Eileen De Mel, funds have been left to construct a ward or wing of the Kurunegala Hospital and the party appointed on behalf of her estate has agreed to have the construction of the said five‑storey building completed. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Health to enter into an Agreement with the party appointed on behalf of estate of late Mrs. Eileen De Mel, to implement and complete the Project within 02 years as per the said agreement, was approved by the Cabinet.
