Smart Sri Lanka Initiative - Digitalization, Blockchain Technology, Cryptocurrency mining and providing required services to Sri Lanka

- Developing an integrated system including Digitalization, Blockchain Technology, Cryptocurrency mining and provision of other required services has been identified to facilitate the creation of a digital business ecosystem. Many other countries in South Asia have already initiated measures to evaluate and develop related fields expeditious attention should be focused to competent with such countries. Accordingly, the Cabinet approved the proposal made by the Minister of Development Co-ordination and Monitoring to appoint a committee comprising of professionals in both Government and private sector to submit information to the Cabinet on the possible regulations, acts and laws to attract investors engaged in those fields, and to take necessary action to permit Cryptocurrency mining companies to invest in Sri Lanka, subject to the provisions of the Act No.4 of 1978 and its subsequent amendments.
