The 'Gamata Sanniwedanaya' (Connect Sri Lanka) National Project

- The 'Gamata Sanniwedanaya' (Connect Sri Lanka) Project launched by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) in 2019, has conducted a survey on the lack of broadband connectivity covering 14,000 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the 25 districts. The project that has been initiated by the said Commission, based on its outcome, in association with the Telecommunication Service providers to cover Ratnapura district with broadband connectivity is to be completed in October, 2021. The Government has already planned to expand the said project as a national project, enabling to cover the entire island with broadband internet facilities by improving the infrastructure facilities required for digitalization. It is expected to secure the funds required for the purpose from the Telecommunication Development Fund. As such, the proposal made by H. E. the President in his capacity as the Minister of Technology to implement the said Project, was approved by the Cabinet.
