Shortage of Rice in the Market

- Attention of the Cabinet was drawn to the existing shortage of rice in the domestic market. Considering the prevailing situation, cabinet decided to import 100,000 MT of rice immediately, enabling to supply the consumers with adequate quantities of rice without a shortage and to maintain a buffer stock of rice with the Government. It was also decided to cancel the existing maximum price limits of rice with immediate effect.
