Programme for stabilizing prices of essential consumer goods by creating competitiveness in the market through the Forward Exchange Agreement

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2021‑04‑27 has granted approval to implement a programme of purchasing essential consumer goods to Lanka Sathosa Limited at fixed prices under the Forward Exchange Agreements. Under the said programme, agreement will be reached with the selected suppliers through the Forward Exchange Agreements for a period of three months. Expression of Interest has been invited from the suppliers having published notices with a view to implementing the third phase of the above programme within the period of next three months. Accordingly, the Cabinet decided grant its concurrence for the matters submitted by the Minister of Trade on actions intended to be taken for the implementation of the relevant programme along with the selected suppliers from the Expression of Interest so received.
