Establishment of Techno Parks

- It has been proposed by the Budget ‑ 2021 to establish 05 Techno Parks in the districts of Galle, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Kandy and Batticaloa. As such, the Ministry of Technology, having taken into consideration the connectivity to the Expressway Network, tourism attraction, availability of the requisite Human Resources and other requirements, has identified the appropriate locations to establish the said relevant Techno Parks. It has been planned to establish a Company as ''Techno Park Development Company'' to be fully owned by the Secretary to the Treasury, to enable the said Company to implement the proposed projects as Commercial Enterprises, register the said Company in the Colombo Stock Exchange in future and provide the opportunity to the Private Investors also to take part in the relevant project. Accordingly, the proposal made by H. E. the President in his capacity as the Minister of Technology to pursue action for the implementation of the proposed project, was approved by the Cabinet.
