Providing financial sponsorship for the Athletes who won Gold and Bronze Medals at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games

- Mr. Dinesh Priyantha Herath has been successful in winning the Gold medal of the Men's F46 category Javelin Throw along with a new World Record and Mr. Samitha Dulan Kodituwakku in winning the Bronze medal of the Men's F64 category Javelin Throw and they have brought extraordinary achievements to their motherland. The National Sports Council established as per the provisions of the Sports Act, No. 25 of 1973, has recommended the criteria on awarding cash prizes for the acclaimed International games victories and the receivable cash prizes. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Youth & Sports to award the cash prizes to the above two victorious athletes and their two coaches, as per the recommendations of the National Sports Council, was approved by the Cabinet.
