Alienation of lands to Aura Lanka Herbals Private Limited, on Long Term Lease Basis, to implement a Project to manufacture Herbal Products from Aloe vera plant for export purpose
- Aura Lanka Herbals Private Limited has submitted a project proposal as 'Dry Zonal Rural Economic Development Aloe Vera Project', to commence a manufacturing industry of herbal products from Aloe Vera plant in Anuradhapura district, for export purpose under the organic cultivation method. Under the said Project, it is expected to manufacture energy booster drinks, herbal tablets, lotions, inhaler capsules and hair oil using roots, stem, gel and outer leaves of Aloe vera plant. The total investment of the Project is US$ 783 million and the investor has planned to invest US$ 300 million as the initial investment. Under this Project, it is expected to use 2,000 acres located in the Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Rajanganaya and Nochchiyagama to set up nurseries for producing Aloe vera seedlings and 102,000 acres located in the district of Anuradhapura for cultivating Aloe vera by using the saplings produced by the said nurseries. It is proposed to have the families owning lands on Grants and Licenses and those enjoying the State lands for cultivation purposes, participated in this Project. Accordingly, the joint proposal made by the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Lands to alienate a block land approximately 66 acres in extent on Long term Lease basis for a period of 30 years as per the provisions of the State Land Ordinance, to construct and maintain the factory and operational office premises of the said Project and for its storage and operational activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
