Amending the Employees' Provident Fund Act, No. 15 of 1958 to enter into a Bilateral Social Security Agreement between Sri Lanka and India
- Approval was granted by the Cabinet at its meeting held on 27‑02‑2018 to amend the Employees' Provident Fund Act, enabling to sign a bilateral Social Security Agreement between the two countries, with the objectives of exemption of Sri Lankans serving in India from the requirement of contributing to the Social Security Fund of India and Indian nationals serving in Sri Lanka from the requirement of contributing to the Employees' Provident Fund. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Labour, to publish the Employees' Provident Fund (Amendment) Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman in the Government Gazette and submit the same thereafter, in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
