Obtaining the service of an Expert Committee for a Sustainable Agriculture

- The Ministry of Agriculture and the Institutions coming under its purview are making arrangements to overcome the challenge of directing the entire local agriculture towards the use of fully organic fertilizer to ensure the right of the people to a non-toxic diet with a view to producing a healthy and productive citizen as stated in the Government's policy statement “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour”. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Agriculture to appoint an Expert Committee comprising of scholars in the field, chaired by the Prof. Priyantha Indralal, Professor in Environmental Agriculture of the University of Sabaragamuwa with a view to obtaining the participation of all parties concerned to conduct this programme in a more formal way, and seeking the necessary guidance for making policy decisions, was approved by the Cabinet.
