Revising the compensation scheme for the damages caused by protected wildlife including wildlife
- The Cabinet approved the proposal made by the Minister of Wildlife and Forest Conservation to revise the scheme of compensation presently being paid for the dependants of the deceased and those who succumb to complete or partial disability and for the the houses and properties damaged due to the attacks by protected wild life such as wild elephants, leopards, bear, wild buffaloes and crocodiles as follows:

* to increase the the amount of compensation of Rs.500,000/- which was being paid for a death, up to Rs.100,0000/, irrespective of age or gender.

* to increase the the amount of compensation of Rs.500,000/- which was being paid for a person who becomes completely disable, up to Rs.100,0000/-, irrespective of age or gender.

* to increase the the amount of compensation of Rs.75,000/- which was being paid for a person who becomes partial impairment or physical injury, up to Rs.150,0000/-.

* to increase the the amount of compensation of Rs.100,000/- which was being paid for the damages caused to houses and property by wild elephant attacks, up to a maximum of Rs. 200,0000/-.
