Programme to encourage farmers for production and use of fertilizer by themselves for paddy cultivation in Maha Season of 2021/2022

- The Ministry of Agriculture has planned to meet the requirement of organic fertilizer for paddy cultivation of about 800,000 hectares for the Maha season 2021/2022. Accordingly, necessary steps have already been taken to direct farmers to produce quality organic fertilizer, specially under the guidance of the Department of Agrarian Development, and to increase the quantity of organic fertilizer produced by licensed manufacturers. The proposal made by the Minister of Agriculture, to pay an incentive of Rs. 12,500 per hectare not exceeding 02 hectares (05 acres) to farmers who themselves produce and use organic fertilizer, in order to encourage them for the production of organic fertilizer, was approved by the Cabinet.
