Signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Russian Federation for strengthening the cooperation in Sports

- It has been proposed to enter into a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding between Sri Lanka and the Russian Federation to strengthen the cooperation in the field of sports. Under the said MoU, it is expected to organize sports related games for all the sports with priority to the sports such as athletics, swimming, gymnastics, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, swordsmanship, football and squash and to exchange the programmes, experiences and information between sports organizations, sports federations and other recognized sports structures. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Youth and Sports to enter into the proposed Memorandum of Understanding, was approved by the Cabinet.
