Amending the Universities Act, No 16 of 1978 for inclusion of the provision required for the establishment of Universities with specific purposes

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted previously to amend the Universities Act, No 16 of 1978 incorporating the provisions required to establish universities for specific purposes. Accordingly, clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the draft bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman. Therefore, the proposal made by the Minister of Education, to publish the said draft bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter present the same in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
