Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resources Development Scholarship Programme - 2021

- The Government of Japan launches the “Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resources Development Scholarship Programme” since 2010 in order to provide opportunities to the executive level public sector officials to undergo Master Degree Programmes in prominent universities in Japan. Under this programme, 180 opportunities for Master Degree Programmes and 08 opportunities for PhD programmes have been provided to Sri Lanka. The Government of Japan has agreed to provide a grant of Japanese Yen 271 million (approximately Rs.488 million) for the group of executive officers scheduled to be commenced their studies in September 2021. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, to sign Exchange of Notes to obtain that grant aid and to enter into an Agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to implement the said programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
