Amendment to the Code of Criminal Procedure Act, No. 15 of 1979 (Pre trial Procedure)

- The Cabinet, at its meeting held on 2018‑02‑14 granted approval to introduce amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure Act, No. 15 of 1979 with a view to introducing new provisions pertaining to the conduct of Pre-trial conferences in the High Courts. Accordingly, the clearance of the Attorney General has been received to the draft Bill so prepared by the Legal Draftsman as per the said Cabinet approval. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice to publish the said draft Bill in the Government Gazette and to submit the same thereafter in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
