The Annual Report – 2020 of the Ministry of Finance (Final Budget Position Report)

- The Annual Report (Final Budget Position Report) should be presented to Parliament and to the general public by the Minister of Finance prior to the lapse of 05 months after the end of financial year as indicated in Section 13 of the Fiscal Management (Responsibility) Act, No. 03 of 2003. Accordingly, the Annual Report - 2020 has been published on 2021‑05‑31.The Report provides an analysis of macroeconomic and socio-economic indicators, covering the areas such as fiscal policy, economic developments in 2020, global economic developments and monetary sectors, domestic demand and supply, investment and savings, developments in foreign and monetary sector and inflation including the measures taken to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and its ramification effect on the economic variables. Further, it also includes a detailed analysis on final budget position including government revenue and expenditure, cash flow management, budget deficit financing and debt structure. As such the proposal made by Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Finance to table the said Annual Report in Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
