Purchasing textile necessary for the Government Institutions from the local manufactures at provincial level

- Invading the domestic market by sub-standard imports which are not subject to a standard quality and increase of the production cost due to importing 70% of raw materials of apparels have been identified as the problems faced by the local manufactures engaged in the textile and local apparel industry. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Industries as per the recommendation of the State Minister of Batik, Handloom Fabric and Local Apparel Products to make provisions for the purchase of batik, handloom and local apparel required for the government institutions located in each provinces from local manufactures in the same area and for purchasing from the manufacturers in any other province, in case the required quantity cannot be met by the said manufacturers, was approved by the Cabinet.
