Construction of Mannar Wind Power Plant

- The Cabinet, at its meeting held on 2019‑01‑29 granted approval to add wind power capacity of 60 MW for five substations located in Trincomalee, Mannar, Madampe, Bolawatta and Kappalthurai. Accordingly, International Competitive Bids have been invited for the construction of Wind Power Plant for Mannar Grid Substation and for connecting the same to the transmission network, under that project. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Power to award the contract for the construction of the relevant Wind Power Plant and connecting the same to the transmission network of Mannar Grid Substation to M/s Hiruras Power (Pvt) Ltd on Built-Own-Operate basis for an operational period of 20 years as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Negotiating Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
