Hosting of the 16th Session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee Meeting for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) from 13th to 18th December 2021 in Colombo, Sri Lanka

- Sri Lanka is a state party of the UNESCO Convention for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and at present, it is a member of its Intergovernmental Committee. Sri Lanka has been privileged to host the 16th session of that Intergovernmental Committee scheduled to be held in Colombo from 13th to 18th December 2021. It is expected that approximately1000 foreign representatives including a delegation of 30 members from the UNESCO Secretariat with the Director General of UNESCO and representatives and delegation from 195 Member States will be present here for the relevant session. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Education to carry out future activities as per the Work Plan prepared for hosting this session, was approved by the Cabinet.
