Providing houses to the families to be affected by the Four Lane Elevated Highway Construction Project from the New Kelani Bridge to Athurugiriya

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted to implement the Four Lane Elevated Highway Construction Project from the New Kelani Bridge to Athurugiriya. The need for providing alternative housing facilities to 1,100 families including the families and sub‑families of unauthorized occupants living in those lands so acquired for the project and the families living in lands less than the extent of 06 perches and those families who are unauthorized occupants of the land where the Dematagoda sports ground is to be constructed, as well has been identified. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Highways to provide houses to the said 1,100 families from the housing schemes in Kolonnawa, Henamulla and Maligawatta implemented by the Urban Development Authority, was approved by the Cabinet.
