Housing Project of Maliboda Estate - Deraniyagala

- In response to a request made at the 'Gama Samaga Pilisandarak' program conducted by H. E. the President at Deraniyagala area, it has been proposed to implement a housing project for the estate workers in Maliboda area. It has been planned to construct 171 houses for the estate workers under the said project. The Government of India has also agreed to provide a grant of Rs.500 million for construction of 480 estate houses including the proposed houses in response to the request made by H. E. the President. As such, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Urban Development & Housing to implement the project for constructing 171 housing units at Maliboda Estate under the proposed Indian Grant Scheme and to award the contract for constructing 60 houses as its first phase, to the State Engineering Corporation (SEC), was approved by the Cabinet.
