Amendment of Land Acquisition (Payment of Compensation) Regulations - 2013

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted to pay compensation for 20 identified projects under Land Acquisition and Resettlement Committee (LARC) and Land Acquisition and Resettlement Special Committee (SUPER LARC) systems and relevant regulations have been enacted for the purpose as per the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act. The Cabinet has granted approval to adopt the same system to pay compensation for the lands so acquired under the following projects:

i. Metro Colombo Urban Development project.
ii. Railway Track project from Kurunegala to Habarana via Dambulla.
iii. Strategic City Development Programmes.
iv. Grid Sub‑Stations and Transmission Lines project under the funds of the Asian Development Bank.

As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Lands to submit the amended Land Acquisition (Payment of Compensation) Regulations‑ 2013 published in the Gazette dated 2021‑03‑18 for approval in Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
