Implementation of Third Tranche of the Second Integrated Road Investment Programme
- The Government of Sri Lanka and the Asian Development Bank have entered into an agreement to obtain US$ 900 million from the said Bank to implement the Second Integrated Road Investment Programme. Under the said programme, it has been planned to upgrade and maintain about 3,400km of rural access roads in Eastern, Northern, Uva and Western Provinces and to rehabilitate 340km of national roads between the rural community and social economic centres in the said provinces. It is expected to complete the overall programme by 31st March, 2027. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Finance to obtain a sum of US$ 200 million from the Asian Development Bank as the third installment of US$ 900 million which has been agreed to finance the Second Integrated Road Investment Programme and to enter into the agreement for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
