Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2021-05-03

Entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM) and EHL Advisory Services LLP, New Delhi, India

- The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM) has been established in 1966 to train the youth in the field of hospitality and tourism industry. In view of providing educational facilities in the field of hospitality to students isalndwide, its provincial schools have been established in the towns of Anuradhapura, Bandarawela, Pallekele, Koggala, Rathnapura, Kurunegala, Jaffna and Pasikudah. Even though the training schools of Private sector in the said sector have achieved a rapid progress, the image of Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management has been tarnished gradually. It has been planned to seek the assistance of EHL Advisory Services LLP, New Delhi, India with the intervention of the Embassy of Switzerland in Sri Lanka, to conduct an Analytical Study on the quality of the education programmes of the said Institute, enabling to rebuild the Institute and uplift its image. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Tourism to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between EHL Advisory Services LLP and the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management to obtain the services of EHL Advisory Services LLP, was approved by the Cabinet.
