Construction of a Buddhist Temple of Sri Lankan tradition at the premises of White Horse Temple in the People's Republic of China

- In view of enhancing the long standing diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and Sri Lanka, it has been proposed to construct a Buddhist temple of Sri Lankan tradition which the world Buddhist Community pays homage to, in the premises of White Horse temple in the People's Republic of China. All expenses incurred for the proposed construction activities will be met by the White Horse temple and the said construction activities will be carried out under the supervision of the Ministry in-charge of the subject of Buddhasasana in Sri Lanka. As such, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious & Cultural Affairs to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the White Horse temple of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious & Cultural Affairs for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
