Establishment of Trusted Digital Repository at the National Archives

- The Department of National Archives holds valuable archives from the Dutch and British administration since the year 1640 and those created after independence and the legal deposits of all publications including newspapers published from the the 19th Century. This Department receives a large number of documents daily including digital publications and documents, radio and television broadcasting, websites and emails etc. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs to establish a trusted digital repository, following the international standards on digital preservation in order to ensure the reliability and authenticity of the said digital records, was approved by the Cabinet.
