Obtaining service facilities from Sri Lanka Telecom to promote the services of the Department of Motor Traffic

A large number of clients arrive in the Head Office of the Department of Motor Traffic, Werahera office and district level offices in order to obtain services rendered by the said Department. Since both clients and the staff of the Department are faced with difficulties in certain occasions due to the above reason, it has been planned to redress this matter by utilizing modern information and communication technology for reserving a time for the duties in advance, obtaining a number for the same, guiding to reach the relevant divisions for services according to service requirement of clients and notifying the relevant information to the client by SMS etc. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Transport to implement the proposed project in association with Sri Lanka Telecom and to implement the same in the offices of Narahenpita and Werahara and 05 Districts offices where online facilities are available as the first phase and thereafter implement in the rest of 19 District Offices as the second phase of the proposed project, was approved by the Cabinet.
