Establishment of the “Anuradhapura Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Zone”

- It has been planned to establish the “Anuradapura Pharmaceutical Manufacturing zone” in Oyamadu where the ‘Deyata Kirula’ was held under the local businessmen and investors encouraging programme with a view to providing high quality pharmaceuticals at a low price for the people by manufacturing all pharmaceuticals in Sri Lanka which could manufacture according to the International Standards. A Committee of Experts has selected 24 investors having called for project proposals from qualified local investors who are interested in this regard. The investors are expected to invest approximately Rs.28,200 million for the project. Accordingly, the land plots will be leased to selected local investors for a period of 35 years with a tax exemption for the first five years. Therefore, the proposal made by the Minister of Health to implement the proposed pharmaceutical manufacturing zone, as a strategic project under the State Ministry of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals, was approved by the Cabinet.
