Programme to establish a Homeshop in one household in every Grama Niladhari Division, targeting young women entrepreneurs selected from Samurdhi families

- The Ministry of Highways has planned to implement a programme by the name of Homeshop in every Grama Niladhari division in association with the relevant line ministries and other institutions targeting 25,000 young women entrepreneurs selected from Samurdhi families to strengthen the food distribution network. National level guidance for this project will be provided by the Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Elevation while monitoring of the project will be carried out by the State Ministry of Samurdhi, Household Economy, Micro Finance, Self Employment and Business Development. This programme is planned to be implemented through the 100,000 km development pogramme under the Ministry of Highways covering the entire island. The proposed Homeshops will be constructed adjoining the roads those are proposed to be constructed under 100,000 kilo meter of roads development project and are to be constructed with a floor area of 200, 300, 400 and 500 square feets depending on the requirement. Accordingly, the proposal submitted by the Minister of Highways for implementation of the said programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
